PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS
To earn a Cesar Chavez Junior High School promotion certificate, walk the stage and participate in the 8th grade trip, dance, etc. students must meet the promotion criteria: 8th grade cumulative G.P.A. requirement of 2.0 or better, be on track to earn sixty (60) credits, have no more than seven (7) days of home suspension in second semester and no suspensions during the last twenty (20) school days prior to promotion. In addition, students may have no attendance cuts during second semester and must have not been referred for SARB. Only students earning G.P.A./credit criteria and meet the guidelines listed above will be allowed to walk the stage and receive a diploma.
PROMOTION/RETENTION
Students will be assessed for promotion/retention based on promotion credits earned each quarter. The following chart illustrates the possible promotion credits earned for the school year. Students earning 60 or more credits will be promoted to the next grade. Students earning less than 15 promotion credits a quarter will be referred to the After School Tutoring Program and/or Summer School. The tutoring program will run from 2:30-3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Promotion credits can be made up by earning a ”Credit” grade or better in the After School or Summer School programs. Students can earn 2.5 credits back each quarter by attending 75% of the offered tutoring days.
